Well, Hello!

Many of you know the former owner of this company, Abigail.

And if you know her, you know she is about as close as one can find to an actual fairytale princess. She is one of the sweetest, kindest people to ever walk the earth; she’s completely drop dead gorgeous, inside and out (yes, that's her to the right — gorgeous, right?); she is incredibly talented; and she started her own company before she could legally vote.

On top of all that, she made my dreams come true. When she hired me, I was so excited to dress up like a princess, but, believe it or not, that ended up not being the best part of the job. The way kids react to these characters; the way their eyes light up when they see them; the incredible stories they tell; and the hugs they share … those are the things that make this the most incredible job I’ve ever had.

You see, I’ve never really wanted kids or even been comfortable around them. I’ve always been afraid I would do something wrong or they would hurt themselves, and I wouldn’t be able to help them. In a way, they terrify me. Or at least, they used to. Now, I can’t wait to get to the next party and meet all of the amazing little ones waiting. This job has completely changed me as a human being.

I also believe this job saved me. I haven’t had an easy path through life, and I tend to be a bit of a pessimist. This past year has been particularly trying for multiple reasons (of course, this year hasn’t been easy on anyone, let’s face it). I ended up suddenly alone after a six-year relationship, living through a global pandemic with no one to lean on besides my 14-year-old dog (he’s not very talkative and extremely cranky). When Abigail asked me to take over the business for a bit, I didn’t think I could do it. I didn’t think I had the capacity. But, I knew I would rather do it on my own than not do it at all, so I took it on.

Doing so completely saved my life. I suddenly had something incredible to focus on: making kids happy again, giving them joy in a dark, scary time. And I took to it wholeheartedly, dreaming up ways to teach valuable lessons while also keeping kids entertained. You see, I fully believe that these characters have incredible power. Growing up, I always saw siblings in movies and shows treat each other with mocking and taunting. But not these characters. These characters are kind, giving and loving. The Snow Sisters, in particular, have shown young siblings what their relationship can look like when they choose to show love. And they do! I’m always awed by how kindly the siblings treat each other at the events and parties I attend.

These characters can be used for such amazing things! From encouraging a child to keep trying until they can finally read to showing patience when others show disdain, these characters each have their own incredible lessons to teach. And the magic they bring! You have never seen true joy until you’ve seen a child watch their favorite character walk into the room.

So though it makes my heart heavy to see the only sister I’ve ever had walk away from this company, I know Abigail is going to do amazing things with her life. I can’t wait to see what they are. And though I know I have huge shoes to fill, I know I can do it. I believe in the magic this company creates, I believe in the magic these characters create, and, after all, Walt himself once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” I’m pursuing this one with every piece of my heart. I can’t wait to see where this road leads.
